In the Wall Street Journal, Ron Winslow reports that just because you look thin doesn’t mean you’re not over fat. In fact, scientists have a new term that describes this situation: normal weight obesity. For your height, gender and age, you can be within a “normal” weight range yet still carry too much body fat.
How is this possible?
The fat replaces muscle.
You then look relatively thin but have a lower muscle mass.
And you run the same risk of health-related disorders as someone who is both overweight and obese.
